The Good Shepherd School in Njeru, Uganda provides a Christian based education and one meal per day to approximately 600 plus children. The school is operated under the leadership of Pastor Henry Ssevviiri, along with a small administrative staff and approximately 13 teachers. The Good Shepherd School has seen recent and rapid growth, from 200 children to over 600 in about 15 months. The school was also rebuilt in 2011; the cost of which was covered by donations. Families who send children to the Good Shepherd School are charged tuition, however there are approximately 110 children who attend school that cannot afford some, or all, of the tuition. These children are perhaps most in need of the meal and education they receive at Good Shepherd. By sending in your donation, you will be helping children such as Christy, pictured here.
While the administrative staff and Pastor Henry seek agriculture projects to help move this school toward self sustainability we ask you to prayerfully consider supporting a Christ like effort to offer hope to the hopeless. By sending in a donation to GSS of $25/month you help the administration of this school reach out to more within this poor area of Uganda who would otherwise be on the streets without any supervision as their single parent or relative looks for food to survive. The enrollment would have reached upwards to 700 but the administrative staff had to say no because they don’t have the monthly resources to feed all the children and offer the quality education standards expected by the Ministry of Education.
You can help by sending a gift through our donation button and designating the funds to Good Shepherd School. We will gather the funds and forward them to the school administrative purser who adds these funds to the collected school fees and uses this pool of resources to cover all the priorities of feeding and educating the whole student body.
Blessings! Rev. Ken and Renate Galyean
